— Baldi, Classic/Birthday Bash/Classic Remastered

Swinging doors are a type of door in the Baldi's Basics series. Like standard doors, opening these doors will attract Baldi by the sound.

Except for the normal swinging door, this is the only door that has special requirements to get it to open. The swinging doors can be locked by a Swinging Door Lock, preventing anybody from opening it, including Baldi and the player, for 30 seconds in Baldi's Basics Plus and Classic Remastered (15 in Classic/Birthday Bash).

Types[]

There are three types of swinging doors, normal swinging door, coin door, and wrong/right-way door.

Normal[]

The most common variant littered throughout the hallways. It has windows which the player can see through to view incoming characters. Every character (excluding It's a Bully and Chalkles) can open this door. This door does not need left-clicking to open but instead requires physical contact. The Swinging Door Lock can only be used on this type of swinging door.

Swinging doors may appear next to each other, notably with the cafeteria.

Coin[]

CoinDoorGame

The coin door.

The coin door first appears as an ordinary swinging door that has a realistic photo texture of a coin slot in a deep reddish-purple color, and it is printed with "25¢" and "PUSH TO REJECT" text below.

The coin door appears in some hallways and requires the player to insert a Quarter into the slot of the coin door. If the player does not insert a Quarter into the coin slot, nobody can pass through the door, essentially acting as a permanent Swinging Door Lock.

After inserting a Quarter into the coin slot, the coin door will change into an ordinary swinging door permanently, becoming accessible.

The Principal scolds the player through the coin door

Principal of the Thing scolding the player (seen in the caption) from the other side of the coin door.

NPCs can see the player through the coin door, so Principal of the Thing can still scold the player for breaking the school rules from the other side of this swinging door.

These swinging doors are exclusively available on floor 3 and all challenges, except for the Stealthy Challenge.

Wrong/Right-way[]

RightWayDoor

The right-way door.

WrongWayDoor

The wrong-way door.

The player and other characters can open one-way swinging doors* with green arrow icons and go through it. On the other side, there is a door with a red line icon, which cannot be opened once it has been closed. Even if the wrong-way door is opened, NPCs will not go through the door, but instead, they will go in a different direction. If this door is still open, the player can go through it regardless of side.

These swinging doors are exclusively available on floor 2 and Endless Mode - Random.

Locations[]

Main gameplay[]

While they are mostly scattered through the halls, these doors also lead to some special locations like the cafeteria, library, outdoor area, and playground.

Challenges[]

The only types available in each current challenge are normal and coin doors, while the Stealthy Challenge has only normal swinging doors.

Other appearances[]

  • In Baldi's Basics Classic, Baldi's Basics Birthday Bash and Baldi's Basics Classic Remastered, only the normal swinging doors are featured. At the start of the game, the player will be unable to go through the first three swinging doors, with one in front of them and one to the left and right, until they have collected two notebooks. These doors also lead through exits that are found after the player collects 7 notebooks in Story Mode. There are 8 swinging doors in total.
  • In Baldi's Basics - Field Trip demo: Camping, there are 2 normal swinging doors: one that leads to the outdoor area and another behind the Super Schoolhouse where PlaceFace is hiding.
  • In Baldi's Basics Full Game Early Demo, there are 5 normal swinging doors in total. Furthermore, the coin doors are introduced, but there is only one.

Trivia[]

General[]

  • The coin door's slots look like quarter slots in arcade machines.
  • Swinging doors do not make a sound when closing, unlike standard doors.
  • The swinging doors shrink a little when opened, creating a gap around the edges.

Baldi's Basics Plus[]

  • Prior to V0.1.2, one-way swinging doors could only be entered through the right-way side if they were still open.
  • Using BSODA on an NPC in the path of a one-way swinging door will open the door, regardless of which side the NPC is blasted.
  • Among the 3 challenges, the Stealthy Challenge has the least swinging doors as it has only two of them.

Classic/Birthday Bash[]

  • Until the second notebook is collected, the swinging door at the dark hallway with the mailbox comic has a Swinging Door Lock on one side of it.
  • Swinging doors will make sound even if the player passes by them while they are open.

Baldi's Basics Classic[]

  • Prior to V1.3.2, there were only 6 swinging doors.

Baldi's Basics Full Game Early Demo[]

  • Swinging Door outside of the school

The hovering swinging door in the Full Game Early Demo, seen when hacking.

When teleporting outside of the school with hacks, a swinging door can be seen visibly above the school building.

Baldi's Basics in Education and Learning: Development Build[]

  • For some odd reason, the opening sound for the swinging doors is the one for the standard doors instead of the usual opening sound.

Glitches[]

Baldi's Basics Plus[]

  • Rarely, Baldi may try to pass through the locked swinging doors connected to outdoor areas and he can get stuck, if the player is in there. He will go to other locations if they use a BSODA at him or a Dirty Chalk Eraser to hide from him.
  • Double Swinging Doors
Rarely, two swinging doors will spawn in the same spot.
  • NPCs can close swinging doors if one is generated near a standard door.
